Contour there and everywhere

I did a very subtle contouring (Hollows of the cheeks, eye crease, side of the nose) and highlighting (upper cheek bone, eyelid, bride of the nose and center of the lips) using an intensely dark and light powder. I always keep the contours matte and the highlights with a little bit of sheen and dewiness :)
This will give an illusion of a more dimensional than our usual flat, non-flattering face. Not limited to photography, once can wear this look at any time! This one is my fave go-to look simply because its easy to do but very crisp and fresh :)
One may also use cream highlighters and a darker liquid or cream concealer for contouring to create the most natural skin finish. Blending is the key for the most subtle effect.
In this photo, I used a newby in the market, IT cosmetics. Though this one is not yet available here in the Philippines. Among my favorite are: Smashbox Suntan Matte, Bare Minerals in Warmth, MAC MSF Naturale and Matte Bronze, Fanny Serrano 2-way powder, Bobby Brown, NYX Taupe blush, and so many more brands..

It has been ages.. I truly admire and appreciate bloggers who do product reviews and stuff REGULARLY for their followers, for their passion and maybe just for fun. I can still do it, cant I? My age should not matter (lol!). I love what makeup can do. Being a simple makeup artist is already a fulfillment, but sharing my knowledge (in my opinion) is beyond my love for this passion. I believe God allows me to do this for his greater glory.. Amen to that please.
Anyway, here's my first screenshot from instagram (this is iphone photography so pardon the pixels).

This was a weekday morning, spared a few minutes of my time. Figured why don't I put up some collage of makeup tools, products and look. Sorry I am no way educated in using my phone to take pictures (peace!) Anyhow, tried to pull off a look that every woman can wear. I used the ff:
Urban Decay Naked Basics - FOXY on the LID/ VENUS on the BROW BONE (or vice versa)/NAKED2 & FAINT on the CREASE
***Love this palette because it is very matte and my lids tent to get oily at times so its effective!
NYX Powder Blush in TAUPE - Not much of a fan of NYX Cosmetics but this one got my attention.. been seeing it on instagram and online.. and I must say it's just adorable :) it's very subtle for contouring (used on my cheeks and noseline).
Y.E.T Fickle Auto Eyebrow Pen - my current favorite! love that it is retractable and has a spooly on the other side. It works like real pencil so shaping your brows is easy breezy.
Mary Kay True Dimension Lipstick in Natural Beaute - because of its intense moisturizing, this is my personal lipstick. can't say enough of this I really like it. Though if you're a fan of matte long wearing ones, you may want to experiment on this!
Real Techniques Brushes - I am a minimalist makeup enthusiast in the whole sense of the description. I used the eyeshadow brush for my eyes nose and the big powder brush for contour, blush and setting. 1-2-3. Basic.

5 Essential Brushes for Starters

A Foundation Brush is an essential tool to apply foundation, concealer, moisturizers, primers, illuminating lotions and other cream and liquid formulations. It picks up these kinds of products effectively and application is quick and easy.

A Tapered Powder/Blush Brush can be used to apply powder products like loose setting powder, powder foundation, blush, bronzers, highlighters, contour powders. Economical in its sense because it is such a versatile brush. A no brainer!
Picture
A  Stippling Brush is a duo-fibre brush that can work for almost all types of formulations: Powder, Liquid, Cream and Gel based products. Heard about the famous AIR BRUSHED FINISHED? Yes this brush will guarantee that! A little-bit pricey than the rest of the brushes that you will have since this will serve as your all-around, multi-tasking brush. Apply liquid foundation and in less than a minute you will get an even flawless finish. This is Brush 187 by MAC. Need I say more? :)

If you are to have one eyeshadow brush, this would be it! A tapered fluffy brush that can be used to apply and blend eyeshadows creams, powders or liquids. Perfect to create your one-color smokey eyes. Because its technology is to instantly blend with just a few windshield wiper motion strokes. Proud to say that I can't live without this 217 by MAC. It's a genius brush!

And the last but certainly not the least is an angled eyeliner/brow brush. Made of synthetic material to pick up gel and cream liners, blend eyebrow pencils and perfectly arch eyebrows using powders or cream based pencils. This is absolutely a must-have. how to use: First, apply your eyebrow products, blend, blend. Second, line your eyes with gel liners or pencils. Practical because you just need one for 2 face parts. What a deal right? MAC's 266 is the benchmark of all angled eyeliner brushes.

Alternative to Diamond Peeling

I used to be a fan of diamond peeling because it certainly did give my skin that youthful glow and smooth texture. Until I realized the costs - time (schedule with the facial clinic) , money (needless to say, right?) and effort (driving to and from, thriving the traffic and what have you). Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion Set was introduced to me sometime last year. Since then, I never went back to the traditional diamond peeling sessions. This is clearly a more effective way to achieve same results. It's not your ordinary facial scrub, but more than that.. To women-on-the go with a budget to consider but would want to give the skin the care it deserves..THIS IS FOR YOU!
